Clean Cut Presentation But Very Dry Cake

1. TASTE
SPONGE CAKE;
I have been craving for Taro Cake for months. I would like a cake that has taro taste and not just normal vanilla/ butter sponge cake smothered with taro cream. Thus why I decided to try taro cake from this Junandus Bakery instead of others (based on photos advertised). Unfortunately, the taro flavour in the sponge cake is very subtle. And the cake itself was not light and not airy, and was very dry, literally bone-dry
Bear in mind, I kept this refrigerated right after receival at 2.30PM. Took it out at 4.30PM, and only got to take the bite at 9.30PM (was travelling), yet the cake was still dry so it's not the ''still cold, still chilly, let it out at room temperature for few mins'' issue. This's such a huge letdown because the sponge should be the crux of the cake. It's dry and too dense, even when you pinch the cake, it did not spring back.
TARO CREAM;
For the taro cream in the middle, it's slightly thicker than in photo, it does give taro taste and not too sweet, so this part is fine. But it does not have enough taro volume to compensate the sponge cake flaw
CREAM CHEESE:
The cream cheese ( I think) on top is pretty creamy and smooth, but does not have that zingy taste to balance out the slight sweetness of taro cream.
JELLY:
That's a transparent jelly layer on top - not sure if it's intended to have taro taste. It's bland so I do not see any value added to the cake other than giving out fine finishing.
OTHERS: Whipping cream, and the fruits are just fine

2. DELIVERY
On time. The company did give 1-2 notice updating on the cake status, the runner also gave me heads up prior to arrival.

3. PACKAGING
The cake box is solid enough to keep the cake, I even temporarily put 600ml water bottle on top of the box and it able to withstand the pressure from me running and rushing to Airport gate departure. The paper bag was sturdy as well.

4. OTHERS
They gave 1 x big candle and 1x small candle, despite me not requesting for them. So thank you

5. WORTH FOR MONEY?
Overall, the customer and delivery service from Cake Together was good. But the cake taste was disappointing. Not worth for the money at all, especially when you're paying RM69 for small cake of 12cmx13cm. I'm literally nitpicking now- I've checked the size beforehand and willing to pay the price, but it also came with expectation to receive at least a decent cake.

So yup, will not repeat the order for Taro Cake baked by Junandus.

Great cake
