As we undergo challenging times in this long-standing pandemic, many businesses and families are suffering, struggling to provide themselves with food and daily essentials. In light of this, we’ve compiled a list of available food banks and organisations that are offering a helping hand to those who are unable to provide for their families during this time of difficulty. 

Yayasan Food Bank 
Every RM5 you donate provides 1 meal to someone in need across Malaysia! Yayasan Food Bank is a non-profit and non-government organization who partners with food companies who donate ingredients and services to produce essential items for the needy. They are also accepting donations of all kinds of food and groceries.

Mercy Malaysia
Mercy Malaysia’s COVID-19 Pandemic Fund supports medical services and the essential needs of marginalised groups within the country. All aid assistance and deliverables are coordinated with MOH and the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), and the National Agency for Disaster Management (NADMA).

Hunger Hurts
Hunger Hurts is a youth led NGO driven to eradicate poverty in Southeast Asia. Their #OneMeal project helps small, struggling businesses to sustain themselves while providing free meals for underprivileged communities with every RM10 donated!

Kenchara Soup Kitchen
An NGO established in 2008 that provides food, basic medical services and welfare assistance to the homeless and urban poor. Lend a hand by dropping off food and daily essential items or make a monetary donation!

The Lost Food Project
Feed the hungry, not the landfill! The Lost Food Project collects surplus groceries and provides thousands of vulnerable persons with nutritious food and addresses needless waste in the food industry. You can donate funds, food and/or hygiene supplies to their COVID-19 Hunger Relief Project through a Google Doc here

SunwayCARES Food Aid
From 5th July until 31st July, Sunway Pyramid is collecting non-perishable processed food items for those in need at LG2 Blue Concourse. These essential items will be distributed to families in need in the Subang Jaya area in collaboration with SJ Echo and the Lion's Club of Subang Jaya.

Sambal SOS
The Sambal SOS app is created by local students to let users track the locations of homes with a white flag, plus nearby food banks using GPS. Help a struggling family near you by putting up an alert or locating homes that are in need of essential items in the app. You can make your donations at the food banks listed nearby or directly to these homes.
